City of Nelson – Short-term Rental Project

Like many other municipal governments, the City of Nelson has been pondering how to handle the relatively new phenomenon of property owners renting out their homes, or part of their homes, for vacation-rental purposes, using such popular web-based services as AirBnb, VRBO and Home-Away.

The issues at hand are complex and require balancing the need to preserve adequate rental accommodation for long-term local residents against the freedom of property owners to use their homes as they choose.

To facilitate consultation with Nelson residents and accommodation providers, the city needed an informational website. The short-term rentals website is WordPress based, allowing city staff to manage the content themselves. It is fast loading and fully responsive, working on all kinds of devices.

Concept and visual design are by Pink Dog Designs (Nichola Lytle) of Nelson.
